Born in Brooklyn, New York and raise in the Langston Hughes Projects in Brownsville. Jose Roque's environment was surrounded by drugs, crime and poverty. To escape from the realities of life, Jose would draw, and draw he did. Comic book characters and later on some graffiti. To provide for himself financially, as a teenager during the summer, Jose would ride the Brooklyn trains to 23rd Street in lower Manhattan to buy shirts wholesale. He would then return to Brownsville and set up shop on Pitkin Avenue. By this it meant using a section of the sidewalk like a table, and laying out all the shirts he had purchased as people walked the neighborhood stores to shop - always on the look out and making sure he himself didn't get robbed. This provided him with income to help around the house as well as buy school apparel and supplies for the upcoming fall.

Fast forward to 2009 with a steady career working from print
shops to ad campaigns in several advertising agencies in
Miami and winning creative awards along the way. Jose, now unemployed due to the recession and his wife Stephanie, a stay at home mom, with a degree from the University of Miami, joined forces to create Eye Expose You. Abbreviated for the brand name EyeXU and it's thought provoking tag line, Fashion We Dare To Wear. EyeXU is all about bringing Political, Social, and Moral issues to the forefront, while utilizing the T-Shirt as a canvas of expression. They’re like the CNN of current events with a fashionable twist.

EyeXU will be tapping into all sorts of topics. Some might get offended, while others won’t. Some will laugh, while some won’t. Please don’t ever, ever, ever take it personally. Those at EyeXU strongly believe that a "Voice Silenced Will Never Have An Impact For Change."

This is just the beginning. As time goes on, they will expand their line with cool, hip-looking hats, as well as other apparel necessities.
